This summer Progressive Grounds cools the Mission District with Happy Hours from 3:30pm to 6:30pm seven days a week. All beer and wine is half off. With a selection of fine beers including Chimay ($3.50), Blue Moon ($2.00), and Negra Modelo ($2.00) and wines from Mendocino winemaker Bliss Winery ($3.00/glass), afternoons at Progressive Grounds are a relaxing way to unwind after a long day’s work.
Spice things up with an order of Zaalouk, a Moroccan eggplant and roasted bell pepper salad tossed with Moroccan spices, rice vinegar, extra virgin olive oil and served with pita ($4.99). Or try the Indian Pita Pizza. Curry, spiced ground beef, tomato sauce, and mozzarella are made into a delectably spicy individual-sized pizza for only $6.99. Several other unique and tasty appetizers are also offered.
Savor spiced olives ($3.99), sip a glass of sangria ($5.99), and listen to music from around the world. Thanks to a partnership with Amoeba Music on Haight Street, Progressive Grounds Mission District plays whole albums all afternoon and evening from musicians from Turkey to Morocco, Argentina to India and beyond. Hear something you like? Check out the cd case at the register and head to Amoeba Music to purchase the album.
Currently exhibiting on Progressive Grounds’ walls are screenprints by Richmond artist Raymond Haywood. Raymond’s work revolves around issues of domesticity, racial stereotype and gender identity. The prints’ bright colors and evocative images provoke questions about assumptions and symbols. A reception for Raymond Haywood will be held Sunday, July 15 from 4pm to 6pm.
Progressive Grounds Mission District is located at 2301 Bryant Street at 21st Street, and it is open from 6:30am to 10pm Monday through Friday and 7:30am to 10pm Saturday and Sunday.
All food is available for pick up. To place an order at Progressive Grounds Mission District please call (415) 647-0103. For a full menu, please visit www.progressivegrounds.com.
