Direct from New York, award-winning HEROES AND OTHER STRANGERS plays two-night engagement at Stage Werx in San Francisco

HEROES AND OTHER STRANGERS will be performed September 24 & 25 at 8pm at Stage Werx, 446 Valencia Street, San Francisco.
WINNER, Overall Excellence Award at the 2011 New York International Fringe Festival and currently nominated for two New York Innovative Theater Awards – Outstanding Original Script and Outstanding Solo Performance. After its award-winning run in the 2011 New York International Fringe Festival HEROES AND OTHER STRANGERS was picked up for an extended run at the Cell Theatre in New York City.
Written and performed by Zac Jaffee and directed by Christian Haines, HEROES has been hailed as “Understated but brilliant…beautifully cinematic” (NYTheatre.com), “Entertaining as hell… compelling script and excellent performance” (New York TheaterReview). The show has also been called “…a cautionary tale filled with a roller coaster of emotions” (Womanaroundtown.com) with “…25 characters, each as authentic and nuanced as they are colorful” (WCBS 880 Radio).
It’s 1971. Lenny is perfectly content with his life. He works at a camera shop in New York’s Greenwich Village. He’s not in the war, not fighting against it, not tuning in, turning on, or dropping out. He’s not doing anything but standing on one side of a camera watching it all pass him by. But when a neighborhood girl disappears, Lenny finds himself searching for two runaway teenagers in San Francisco, where he finds hippies, revolutionaries, lovers, killers, heroes and other strangers, and, as it turns out, himself. A noir tale told through a psychedelic lens.
Zac Jaffee is an actor and writer who relocated to New York from San Francisco in 2009. His Bay Area acting credits include roles at Magic Theatre, Marin Theatre Company, B St. Theatre. Impact Theatre. Encore Theatre, foolsFURY, Oakland Public Theater, Word for Word Performaing Arts Company, Traveling Jewish Theatre, and AlterTheater. In New York he has worked with The Barrow Group, New York Theatre Workshop, Barracuda Theatre Company and is a frequent collaborator with aMios Theatre Company. His writing has been seen in New York at Theatre Under St. Marks, Manhattan Theare Source and the Cell.
