On Saturday, January 29, fabric8 celebrates 15 years in business and 5 years in the Mission with an all-day celebration and fundraiser for their forthcoming Parklet.
fabric8 first launched a website selling custom-made clothing from local designers in 1996. In 2006, they opened a boutique in the Mission and began to feature affordable art. Since then, their space has expanded to include a dedicated art gallery space and sculpture garden. They have just submitted final plans for a Parklet Gallery, which will feature outdoor public art exhibitions in front of their building.
Saturday’s event will be the opening of the Past Masters show, a group exhibition featuring works by artists they have collaborated with for many years: Greg Galinsky, Erik Otto, Ursula X Young, Nome Edonna, Telopa, Brian Barneclo, and many more. Past Masters will be on exhibit through February 28.
Rotating food carts will be selling throughout the day, including Adobo Hobo, Meatballer, Pizza Hacker, Soul Cocina, and Crème Brulee Cart.
Patrons are encouraged to make donations to fabric8 for the construction and maintenance of the Parklet, which should be completed in the next few weeks.
Fabric8 is also offering a one-day only 15% discount on all original artwork and purchases over $100.
The fabric8 (1)5th Anniversary Party and Parklet Fundraiser for will be held on Saturday, January 29, from 11am-8pm.
