The Mission Economic Development Agency has been awarded a five-year, $30 million grant by the White House. The grant was one of only seven Promise Neighborhoods grants awarded. MEDA helps low-income Mission District families.

While President Obama and Congress fight over gun control, Mayor Ed Lee is taking things into his own hands. With the support of other city officials, Lee wants to ban certain ammunition and create a notification system for large ammunition purchases.

And if you are planning to spend a day exploring San Francisco during the last week of 2012, you might want to avoid Muni, which for the first time ever will run reduced service during the last week of the year.
