At Google’s headquarters yesterday, Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill that makes driverless vehicles legal in California. The San Francisco Chronicle reports:

“Today, we’re looking at science fiction becoming tomorrow’s reality,” Brown said. “This self-driving car is another step forward in this long march of California pioneering the future and leading not just the country, but the whole world.”

But according to an article in San Francisco magazine, leading the world in such developments can cause trouble in paradise. Read about the city’s soul being squeezed out by the tech boom.
