San Francisco police are advising people to avoid the area near San Jose and Geneva avenues, where a suspicious package was found earlier this afternoon.

Sgt. Michael Andraychak said that the bomb squad responded to a report of a suspicious package on the sidewalk at San Jose and Geneva at about 2:51 p.m. on Friday.

The following streets are closed to traffic:

– Geneva Avenue is closed from Louisburg to Delano
– San Jose Avenue is closed from Niagara to Ocean
– The Geneva Avenue on/off ramps to US-280 are closed

BART has limited access to Balboa Park Station. Police said that riders must use the Ocean Avenue entrance and exit.

Muni service on the J, K and M lines is also impacted. The J and K lines are turning back at Ocean Avenue and are not using Balboa Park Muni Station. The M line is turning back at Niagara Street.
