Police report two teenagers, estimated to be 17 years old, jumped a 25-year-old man yesterday as he was walking down 20th Street near Shotwell Street around 4:30 p.m. The suspects punched and kicked the victim, and then hit his head at least once against a car bumper. They then took his cell phone and his cash before fleeing westbound on 20th Street. No arrest was made. The victim suffered a scrape on his knee, a cut on his hand, and a lump on his head, but refused medical attention.

Crime is trauma and the county offers different services. Here is a link to a page of services.

Victims of violent crime can also contact the Trauma Recovery Center at UCSF.

  1. Description of teens please? Not to profile, just to allow residents and employees that work in the area to make an informed decision, do they want to walk down the street where someone macthing the description is.

    1. One of the biggest problems — especially in the mission — is that the SF progressive supervisors call “war on poor” and “racism” anytime proposals to fight crime and other quality of life issues in the neighborhood are proposed. Security cameras to help fight crime? SF Supes say “No Way!” or water down any proposal to the point where they’d be ineffective. Deport gang members and criminals who are not here legally, or report them to ICE? No way! In fact, loud protesters shout down speakers at meetings, and protest in the streets when it is suggested that criminals be deported: http://missionlocal.org/2016/01/activists-protesting-deportations-arrested-in-sf/

This is why nothing can be done to stop it — because there is no political will to do so, and in fact, there is political will to keep the status quo.

    2. The only crimes that matter in San Francisco are the ones that impact City Hall’s Super Bowl extravaganza, didn’t you know? Or those crimes that effect the corporate conventions that happen at Moscone, etc…But those of us who actually live here and have to deal with this constant crime on a day-to-day basis? We’re left the fend for ourselves. Our DA has made it clear there will be no prosecution of petty crimes, our police departments refuse to show up or arrest anybody unless there’s someone wealthy involved, and there is zero police presence on a day-to-day basis along Mission Street or any of the surrounding area. The police department monthly meetings are a joke, where local residents come and complain about the crime, and the officers basically tell us there’s nothing they can do. So, we’re on our own, unfortunately.
