Police report that a 39-year-old man was approached by two men at 1:50 p.m. on Saturday, January 23 at 21st and Mission streets. The men tried to take the victim’s cell phone, but he wouldn’t let go of it. One of the men then stabbed the victim in the hand with a small knife, but neither of the assailants succeeded in taking the phone. The men fled in an unknown direction, and no arrest was made. The victim was transported to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition for treatment of his hand injury.

On Sunday, January 24, a 47-year-old woman was walking on 15th Street near South Van Ness Avenue when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her purse from her shoulder. He then punched the victim in the head before making his escape, evading arrest. The woman was transported to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition.
