A hit-and-run near the corner of Capp and 19th Street sent one woman to the hospital Tuesday night.
A Mission Local reader reported that the incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when, according to police spokesperson Officer Grace Gatpandan, a black SUV hit another vehicle moving through the intersection. A witness to the scene told Mission Local that the vehicle struck by the SUV was a bicycle.
“The Black SUV struck a woman on her bike, knocked her off and ran over her legs/lower body according to the bike rider with her,” the witness told Mission Local.
Officer Gatpandan didn’t have information about the woman that was hit, but reports that its driver was transported to San Francisco General Hospital following the collision with non-fatal injuries.
According to the witness, the black SUV drove south on Capp Street and was gone by the time officers arrived on scene. Gatpandan says the driver is still at large.
Update January 22: Thursday afternoon, the crash’s victim Ari Lacenski has reported to Mission Local that’s she recovering from the incident, having recently returned home. She writes the following:
I was released from SF General yesterday morning around 11am, have been at home in bed since then. I live at 19th and Florida. I have a fractured left knee cap and broken right ankle. The night at General was no fun at all. Staff are awesome though. I’m set up now with pain meds, an ankle boot, audio books and good friends. I can’t walk or sit up in bed by myself.
I don’t have any other info about the driver. I watched him drive away. Mostly I’m furious to read that he is still out there. Dude drove over my legs, I hope he doesn’t manage to hurt anyone else.
