SF Weekly writes about elevated bikeways and reminds us that the Mission/Valencia Street corridor will be getting one soon.

  1. That image is misleading. I do not believe that all street parking will be banned just so cyclists can go a little faster. And vehicles will still be able to mount this elevated section when they need to.

While where parking is removed, it will merely encourage pedestrians to use the path too, since the sidewalks on Valencia are already crowded on evenings and wee-ends, and in fact I see people walking on the existing bike lanes even now. Elevate it and you will see much more of that, along with strollers, shopping carts, skateboards, scooters and so on. It will become an extension of the sidewalks and could end up being worse for cyclists.
