Phono del Sol, the unassuming music festival that’s been rocking Potrero Del Sol Park since 2011, returns this weekend with some big names and great local talent. Wye Oak, Thao and the Get Down Stay Down, and Blackbird Blackbird are among them.

Yesterday, Phono Del Sol released the set time. You can see them here, and get tickets here. Twenty-five bucks for 10 acts…sounds like a pretty good deal!  The Bay Bridged, one of the festival organizers, offers this playlist for a taste of what to expect on Saturday. It looked like a pretty good time last year.

This NPR interview from 2013 with Thao Nguyen, who lives in San Francisco, is also a fascinating listen. Nguyen talks about the inspiration for Thao and Get Down Stay Down’s latest album We the Common, which is based, in part, on her experiences volunteering with the California Coalition for Women Prisoners and meeting incarcerated women.

For something completely different, check out this unnerving video by Wye Oak. Coffee and ice cream, the perfect pair or not at all?:
