When start-up pitch meetings turn into pick-up attempts…Wired has a good long read about the lived experience of women start-up founders facing the gender imbalance of the tech industry.

I would definitely buy a copy of Son of the Underworld, the never finished autobiography of Raymond “Shrimp Boy” Chow. Contra Costa Times has more.

Depending on the judgement of the San Francisco Arts Commission, there could be a giant Slinky on Masonic Street, or something else whimsical.

Famously progressive San Francisco is one of the leading spots to buy elephant tusks. Seriously, you guys?

Famously progressive? Almost anywhere in Europe is more left-wing than San Francisco. Along with quite a few ditzy US college towns and most of Vermont.

It’s progressive to now want to buy elephant tusks. It isn’t progressive to interfere with the rights of someone else to buy elephant tusks if they feel differently on the topic than you do.

Because San Francisco is also famously tolerant, accepting and diverse, right?
