Welcome to Tuesday. It’s 7 a.m. and 53° now, with today’s high expected to rise to a mellow 62°, partly cloudy and a breeze. Details for the next 10 days are here. Expect winds all week.
The SF Examiner this week reminds us that whatever the force of our week’s wind, it will be a dry one. California is still in the midst an incredible drought, and hardly anybody is doing anything about it—water use continues on as normal. People of the Mission, consider a) showering in pairs b) let the yellow mellow and c) turning on the faucets just to see the water run.
Winds of change are being felt at the Mission Neighborhood Centers. As El Tecolote reports, the nonprofit’s program Mission Beacon, which runs after-school centers to provide tutoring and services to local students, recently announced they would no longer be the recipients of much-needed city funding. Mission Beacon’s future is unclear, but the loss in funding is a big hit.
It’s a shame if programs that help disadvantage youth go away, especially given San Francisco’s incredibly high (and growing) rate of income inequality. Details in The Chronicle.
Enjoy today’s breezes; may they blow away any bad news.
