Good Morning Mission!

The heat wave is over… for now. It is 7 a.m. and 61° now, but temperatures will rise to a comfortable 77°. Details for the next 10 days are here.

Earlier this year, we reported on plans for a large development at 16th Street Bart Plaza. Tonight, forces of opposition are rallying to fight the project as it’s currently designed. Organized by a group called Plaza 16 Coalition, there will be a community forum tonight at the Victoria Theater at 6 p.m.; more detail here.

The Mission has a reputation for getting down and dirty. According to the The Chronicle, the Department of Public Works gets nearly 4,600 requests to steam clean streets in the Mission—and almost all of them are for human waste. But apparently, the city is running out of money to manage all the clean up; read more here. This could get gross.

Everybody I know who lives in Oakland but hangs out or works in the Mission is freaking out about Night School, a new late-night bus service that uses actual school buses, that was detailed yesterday in the Bold Italic. Is this the late-night, transbay transportation revolution we’ve been waiting for?

Today is the 135th day of the year, what are you going to do with it? Be bold.
