Police reported that at 7:25 p.m. a fight in Dolores Park ended after one person got stabbed in the torso.

The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

Robert Brust, of Dolores Park Works, said he saw the police responding, but had no details. Almost five police vehicles and some fire department vehicles were on hand. “The park was very crowded,” he wrote in an email, and there was lots of trash. “Lots of peeing in the streets. But it seemed mellow enough.”

Employees at Dolores Park Cafe and Faye’s Video and Espresso Bar said they didn’t see the incident but did notice police cars and ambulance at the park around 8 p.m. A Dolores Park employee said the altercation took place at the top of the park near the bridge.

“It happened around 7 p.m.,” she said. “Afterward there were police in the park. The guy went to the hospital and is apparently OK, but that’s all I know.”

She also said that a police officer was circling the park on motorcycle this morning.

Police gave no information on the suspect and the case is under investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the San Francisco Police Department. We will update this story as we get more information.

The stabbing victim was defending my 16 year old son who was jumped by a group of thugs looking for trouble. One of the suspects took a pair of glasses off his face, taunting him and eventually throwing the first punch. As my son stood his ground to defend himself another suspect came up behind and hit him in the head with his skateboard. Realizing he was out numbered my son ran from the scene only to be chased by a group of 8 or 10 guys. He said someone came out of no where and hit him on the head with another skateboard. He fell to the ground and when the rest of the gang caught up to him they started kicking, punching and hitting him as he lay helpless. At this point the stabbing victim attempted to defend my son only to be stabbed by one of the suspects from behind. My son said he must have been hit about 40 or more times, suffering two black eyes, swollen lip and bloody nose before someone came to help. If it wash’t for that good samaritan he could have been killed. Our hearts go out to this unknown person and wish him a speedy recovery. As for the rest of the crowd who stood by taking videos of the scene SHAME ON YOU!” If you have an ounce of decency I beg you to contact the authorities and provide your video as evidence.

As a mother I understand how you feel. I am so sorry to hear about this. I hope those thugs are caught.
