In a statement released this afternoon, the San Francisco Police department reported that they have arrested one of three people detained in connection with the Saturday shooting of a San Francisco police officer.

After chasing the suspect and two other individuals to San Jose this morning, the department arrested Jeffrey Ruano, a 50-year old San Francisco resident. They also shared that the wounded officer, whose name is Officer Adam Shaw, is out of surgery and in recovery.

The two women detained at the same time were questioned and released, the press release said.

Although Ruano was arrested, the charges do not connect him directly to the Saturday shooting. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, but the release says, “the vehicle being the weapon.”  In addition he is charged with violating the prohibition against convicted felons possessing ammunition, “driving in excess of 100 MPH; evading police officers and a misdemeanor warrant.”

We’ll continue to update this story as we hear more.
