A 45-year-old woman living on the 300 block of San Jose Avenue returned home at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday to find a 40-year-old suspect sipping brandy in her kitchen.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Officer Albie Esparza said today that the two people did not know one another. The suspect was a transient, he said.
In other crimes over the weekend, three incidents involved multiple suspects mugging victims. A fourth involved a John soliciting a prostitute.
Friday, March 7
A John, apparently looking for action, approached a prostitute on Bryant near 20th Street at 4:25 a.m. Friday, according to the police report.
The prostitute called her pimp who was nearby in a silver car. It’s unclear why, but the pimp punched the John in the nose several times and then took off with the 30-year-old victim’s backpack, checkbook and car keys.
Saturday, March 8
Saturday just before 1 a.m., two suspects jumped a 21-year-old man on Alabama Street near 21st. The victim attempted to run, but the suspects grabbed him, hit him in the mouth and took his cell phone and cash. They fled on foot.
Later that morning at 5:10 a.m. three suspects jumped a 42-year-old man on Mission near 23rd Street.
The victim told police that nothing was said. He was jumped, punched in the face and kicked when he fell to the ground. The suspects, who were in their mid-20s, took his wallet and keys and fled east on 23rd Street.
Sunday, March 9
Three suspects jumped a 22-year-old near 15th and Guerrero at 1 a.m. on Sunday. One of the suspects punched the victim and the others took his wallet, smartphone and a chain. The suspects fled north on Guerrero Street.
