A suspect — his age undetermined — walked into a store on Mission Street between 23rd and 22nd streets Monday at 10 p.m. and picked up some gum, according to police. Dutifully, the suspect went to the register to pay, but then looked at the cashier, put his hand in his pocket and simulated a gun.
The cashier — perhaps flustered, perhaps stubborn — could not get the register open, according to police. In the meantime, the police arrived and took the suspect into custody. It’s unclear if the suspect was allowed to keep the gum.
