1.4 Million People Will Get A Raise on Jan 1

While unemployment benefits will disappear come January 1, over 1.4 million people who have jobs will get a raise. Thirteen states, including California, will raise their minimum wages in 2014.

    It’s too bad that articles like this do not, inbetween all the sanctimonious gloating, do not take the trouble to enumerate the estimated number of jobs that are lost by having an artificially high minimum wage.

    It’s clear that SeaTac, in particular, will see businesses moving out of town in the face of an inexplicably generous $15 an hour minimum.

    There is no free lunch and pay hikes that are not justified by increased productivity are inflationary job-killers.
