The San Francisco Examiner is reporting that certain city supervisors are trying to enact legislation that would provide assistance to people evicted under the Ellis Act. If the measure is successful, evicted tenants who have lived in their current residence for more than a decade would receive a certificate giving them priority in obtaining affordable housing in the city. Of the 225 Ellis Act evictions in the last year, half involved tenants who had been residents for more than 10 years.
