Yesterday the Senate Judiciary Committee approved a national immigration bill to move to the full senate. The bill includes an easier green card process for graduates of math, science and engineering programs at American universities, the New York Times reports. Facebook and other tech companies have lobbied for this measure in order to let more engineers stay in the country longer. Read more here.

Uptown Almanac posted on the combination dog park and skate park that is slated to be built under the freeway behind Zeitgeist bar. A Board of Supervisors vote yesterday apparently gave the green light to the project. Read more here.

Tickets go on sale today at noon for a performance on June 12 at the Chapel on Valencia Street featuring the band Black Prairie that includes members of the Decemberists. The band will play songs inspired by a new book by San Francisco-based author Jon Mooallem. The book is titled Wild OnesTickets will be $18 and can be purchased here.
