Mission Cultural Center’s annual mole contest offered a feast for all the senses Wednesday evening. For the uninitiated, mole is a rich sauce traditionally made from many ingredients, including but not limited to: chiles, chocolate and nuts. Amateurs and chefs put their best mole forward against the backdrop of an exhibition of altars called “Death in the Installment Plan.” First prize in the homemade category went to Dena Cornett. In the professional category, El Metate restaurant won.
