Two other shootings, one involving a police officer, took place Wednesday following a double shooting at Harrison and 24th streets that left one person dead and the other injured.
Police said that at 9:55 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in the foot at Mission and 19th streets. The victim was standing on the street when he was shot. No suspect information is available. The man suffered non-life threatening injuries and was driven to San Francisco General Hospital by a friend.
Another man was arrested early Thursday after a plain-clothes officer with the Criminal Investigations Unit was shot at multiple times while driving in an unmarked police car heading southbound on Highway 101. The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police said that the officer was able to maneuver around the suspect’s vehicle, a 1990 Buick, to avoid being in the line of fire. The officer called for back up and started chasing the vehicle while shots were being fired. The driver of the vehicle exited the freeway at Cesar Chavez Street and headed northbound on Potrero and then westbound on 25th Street. The driver then pulled over on Bryant and 21st streets and three suspects jumped out.
The officer was able to arrest one suspect. A perimeter was established in the surrounding area as officers searched for the possible remaining two suspects early Thursday but police weren’t able to locate the suspects.
No injuries were reported. It’s unclear at this time whether the three shootings that occurred Wednesday night and early Thursday morning are related.

I am confused! there was a shooting on harrison b/ 24th and 25th at 6pm. Street was blocked until 10pm. Full of cops…
So then a shooting on 19th and the Highway 101???
that’s makes three shootings…
Hi, yes you’re right, there were three shootings total. After the shooting on Harrison and 24th streets (a double shooting that left one dead and sent one to the hospital), there was a shooting at 19th and Mission streets, and one that involved a police officer that ended in one arrest at Bryant and 21st streets.
Elsewhere it was reported that Mission St. btw. 24/25 was shut down for a time. And there was a description of the suspects in the 24/Harrison shooting which was not typical of Mission gang warfare. I realize that Campos has no interest in telling the average Mission dweller what is actually going on, and that PD won’t tell us either. But will anyone? Truthfully, in the 16 years I’ve lived on 24th Street, I’ve never heard as many gunshots as I have lately. What is going on, and why is our city government so embarrassed about it that we are kept in the dark?
Just before 10 o’clock (when this article describes a shooting at 19th), I am fairly sure there were gunshots on mission between 24th and 25th. I was standing on 24th and I heard them and saw people fleeing and taking cover. Based on how people scattered, I think it was on the west side of the street, near rosamunde and taquiera san jose.
I am confused by all of these reports. I was waiting for the bus at 24th street around 10 pm more or less when I heard shots(might have been firecrackers but I doubt it, I have been in the middle or nearby shootings, so I can tell the diference) anyways I was leaning against the bus shelter when I heard the shots followed by pieces of debris hitting the shelter, so I started running away from the shots and so did other people but nobody seem hurt but there were people checking eachother to see if they were hit. After a few minutes police arrived and then the block was close. How is this related to the 6pm shooting I don’t know but It seems to me like two different events.
24th and mission by the way.
I’m at a complete loss why the police and city government will not put more resources into the neighborhood. We are in an extremely serious gang crisis. This is the worst it’s been in many years.
I understand police are not the answer for everything but what else can stop people from firing guns all over the neighborhood in the short term?
We’ve tried removing the police from the neighborhood. We see now how it turns out. We need help.
Not enough money here, Fred. Sadly, the Mission will probably have to get completely gentrified before you get some serious police protection.
I disagree. A couple of full time beat cops around 24th st and Garfield park would change the dynamic immensely. We had them for a few years but then they were pulled. Since then, the shooting has gone way way up. Also, the Inner Mission will never be ‘fully gentrified’. 10 years of untenable housing costs have not changed the Inner Mission much. That’s why I continue to live here. I could do with fewer murder victims but otherwise I love it.
actually a lot of the shootings, homicides and violence going on lately has been non gang related. A lot of it has been random people.

My Brother and his wife were coming from the airport arriving from Michigan. They got off at the 24th and Mission Bart Station when the shooting began. They dropped behind a parked car to avoid getting shot. At least 15 youths fled the scene after hitting two victims. Welcome to S.F. Traggic! Why isn’t that good for nothing Superviser Campos screaming about our safety!!!!!!!
I learned from a neighbor that two black man were the authors of the shooting on 24th and Harrison, which tell me it is NOT just gang related as Norteños/Sureños.
I have seen a great increase of police patrol and undercovers since the shooting.
Can we please keep it up with police patrol? I hear shootings every week!!!
