Muni will shut down several major bus and rail lines from 7 p.m. Friday, May 25, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 4.

Affected routes will be the N-Judah, J-Church, 37, 43, 22 and N Owl.

While the N-Judah rail line will be completely shut down, the J-Church will operate between Balboa Park BART station and the intersection of Church and Market streets. Riders heading downtown will have to transfer to other routes at Market Street.

The 22 bus line will reroute to 18th Street between Mission and Castro streets.

The lines will be shut down for system maintenance and construction, to make tracks smoother, create sidewalk bulb-outs, and improve the water/sewer systems, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s website.

The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition is organizing “Bike Trains” — bicycle convoys for morning commuters headed downtown who usually take the N-Judah and J-Church lines.

The J-Church Bike Train will begin at Glen Park BART station at 8 a.m., and will make four “pickup stops,” the last one at Valencia and 22nd streets at 8:30 a.m.

The Bicycle Coalition also recommends bike detours, here.
