It’s Not About the Turkey

To many Americans, Thanksgiving is all about family, fowl and football. But to what extent do immigrants embrace this quintessential American turkey feast? Mission Local knocked on the doors of some of Mission Street’s “newcomers” to hear how they spend this holiday.

Thanks for sharing this. I am an immigrant too, (10 years), and I am always kind of sad I don’t feel the same way as an American must feel on Thanksgiving day. I can act out Thanksgiving so I appear to be doing it on the surface, but it’s impossible for me to really *feel* the cultural significance that must be an intrinsic part of born & bred Americans.
