In a triple shooting at 17th and Mission streets sometime after 10 p.m. on Saturday, two of the victims were shot in the leg and a third was shot in the chest, sustaining what are believed to be life-threatening injuries, said San Francisco police officer Samson Chan.

The suspect fled on foot, heading east on 17th Street, and is still at large. The gang task force is investigating the incident.

Multiple witnesses said the shooting happened sometime after 10 p.m.; police said they got the call at 11:54 p.m. Chan said there was no delay in response and that police were on the scene immediately.

  1. I was there too – it definitely happened around 10:30 p.m. — we heard the shots just ahead of us at that time. There was an ambulance there waiting, but they would not act until police arrived. A man was pleading with them to help his friend who’d been shot, but they said they couldn’t do anything. I texted a friend at 10:45 p.m. just after we passed the scene.

  2. I was there too… it was around 10:30 PM, not midnight as some of the news has been reporting. We were driving north on Mission, and were maybe 50 feet south of 17th when the shots were fired. I heard probably eight pops. I didn’t see the shooter, but there were probably 20 people within 50 feet of the intersection when it went down. Lucky that more people didn’t get hurt.
