It was free family portrait day at Intersection for the Arts on Saturday evening. Aside from being free for families, the photos taken by Joan Osato and Rebeka Rodriguez will be used to decorate the set of their new play, “Mirrors in Every Corner.”

Conceived by writer Chinaka Hodge, the play will go live during the last week of February and will explore race, family and neighborhood lineage.

All kinds of families showed up: Some wanted to support the play but others who saw the flier took the opportunity to get a family portrait taken for free.

The idea behind the portraits came from set designer Evan Bissell, who said he wanted audience members to see the families, and perhaps, “they will identify themselves with them.”
